Ruth sells Speak Up to win her fight against homelessness.

She buys copies of the magazine for $1 and sells them for $2, using the profits to buy food, ride the bus, do her laundry, and keep moving upward.

Each copy of the magazine moves her one step closer to her goals.

Since 2012, she has sold thousands of magazines to hundreds of customers. With each sale, her pocketbook gets a little less empty. With each sale, she proudly gives a voice to the homeless writers within. With each sale, she makes a new friend and finds stronger community.

Often she writes for the magazine.
